Mid 15th Century Grade II Listed Property

Restoring traditional lime render on a Grade II listed timber framed home in Suffolk.

This mid 15th century timber framed property required careful restoration after extensive cracking and deterioration to the existing render. Damaged areas were removed to expose the original structure, allowing repairs, insulation work and suitable preparation to be completed before new lime render was applied.

The work was carried out with breathable materials and traditional methods appropriate to the age and construction of this Grade II listed building.

Cracked lime render before restoration work began. Original timber laths exposed after removing damaged render. Original timber laths exposed around a period window. External wall prepared during the lime render restoration. Natural insulation installed between the traditional timber framework. Detail of insulation installed within the timber construction. Render carrier boards installed ready for the new lime finish. Period gable prepared ready for lime rendering. Fresh lime render applied around an original window. Completed lime rendered gable following restoration. Traditional 1530 date detail recreated within the lime render. Completed lime render restoration to the 16th century Suffolk home.
