RE: Wall and Ceiling Lime Plastering Repairs to the end bedroom at Crossways Cottage, Coney Weston (2024):
Having recently moved house I was in need of a plasterer to do kitchen / lounge walls and ceilings, the work carried out by Gary was fantastic, follow up tradesmen ALL noted that they had never seen a better job. I would not hesitate to recommend Gary In February 2024 Gary and Lewis carried out repairs, including major patching to walls and ceiling, the installation of insulation to external walls and new lime plaster under an area of thatched roof. The room was plastered in fine lime and completed to a very high quality. My wife and I were extremely pleased with finished result and will not hesitate to employ these two again. Similarly we would not hesitate to recommend them to others (as long as we have first call on their busy schedule).
As well as completing the quoted work within the time agreed and to the original estimate they also gave helpful advice concerning adjacent damp problems, included numerous extras without charge and were extremely clean and tidy throughout the duration of the project. In spite of having to work around the problem of limited access, the potential escape of house cats and a very inquisitive German shepherd dog we hardly knew they were there.

Gary, Thank you for all your help. We can only praise your professional service in our renovations of our new branch. So once again thank you and well done for a fantastic job.
Gary Marcks has undertaken a number of job types and jobs for me including coving, rendering, plaster boarding and plastering. Gary is always competitive with his pricing and carries out his work to very high standards, completing the work within agreed timescales.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Gary to any future customers.

Really delighted with the quality of work carried out by Gary. The bathroom had numerous problems but he was able to talk us through the options and develop solutions for them. Great attention to detail and a very clean worker. We would thoroughly recommend him.
I have just had some plastering by Gary Marcks of GM Plastering. I am very happy with the high standard of work carried out. He has a vast experience in all types of plastering and rendering. At first Gary came round and gave me an estimate which he kept to. Halfway through I asked him to do a few extra jobs and he was very happy to do so. For the time he was in my home him and his assistant were very friendly and carried out the work to a very high standard. I am very pleased with the work and do not hesitate in recommending him to anybody requiring a plasterer.
Gary Marks Plastering had undertaken quite a large project within our timber framed cottage. The work included was plaster boarding, general plastering and lime rendering all in keeping of an old 1700’s cottage.
Gary was very helpful giving advice on the work needed to be done. He was very polite and punctual from the start to the finish of the job. He and his labourer were very thorough, clean and tidy, polite and trust worthy. Gary was working on our project for two weeks with very little disruption to our family home.
Gary’s work was very good and for which I would highly recommend. I will certainly be using his services in the future.

Gary came recommended to us, after we were badly let down by another plasterer, although we had to wait a while for him, it was well worth the wait. His plastering and rendering is first class. We found him to be very punctual and friendly. Our job was completed on time and on budget. We will continue to use him for further work and would recommend him.
My wife and I were so impressed with the work that Gary Marcks completed on our 220 year old cottage. He completed rendering and plastering work to the highest levels of quality, all competitively priced and completed in a very short space of time. The finish quality of the plastering was superb and in keeping with the design finish of the house. I would recommend Gary’s services to anyone, instantly! And we will certainly call on him again in the future. Massive thank you!
I have been working with these guys since years now! With lots of hard work and timely communication they made sure they delivered the best to me. Highly recommended! Not only is Gary a highly skilled plasterer, he is also a talented craftsman with an artistic eye. The combination of all these, along with his attention to detail, patience and care combine together into a superb product and excellent service. Gary and his apprentice, Julian, have just completed a 6-week long project to re-plaster my house, built of clay lump, in traditional Norfolk manner. They transformed my house from a building that had been badly treated over the years through use of unsuitable renders to cover up original features, into a beautiful, light building, using materials that will allow it to breath as it was meant to, and with sympathy to the building – and to us, its owners. Gary’s knowledge and experience of working on buildings of similar types meant that he was able to suggest materials and approaches that would be suitable: he was generous with his knowledge and guidance but never pushed us. He was also cooperative with our own efforts and the other contractors that worked alongside him from time to time. Both Gary and Julian were a pleasure to have working for us and were always considerate. I count us as being very lucky to have found them; I recommend them without reservation and intend fully to ask them back to do more projects. I have been working with these guys since years now! We didn’t know what kind of render we wanted and Gary was happy to assist us in exploring various options right from the start. We eventually decided on a Lime render & cork insulation and Gary (and Julian) worked professionally to transform the exterior of our house sometimes against the elements. We appreciated Gary’s attention to detail and keeping us informed and involved along the way. The end result reflects that care and attention and we would recommend GM Plastering to anyone.
Gary has recently finished re-rendering our entire house with K-rend. From the moment we first contacted Gary we were very impressed with his professionalism, whenever he said he was going to do something he did it. During the job, Gary and his colleague Julian were always extremely considerate of our needs having 2 small children. They kept noise and mess to a minimum and never left here without cleaning up at the end of every day. Gary always consulted us when there was a change required to the original specification and he was always open to listening to our ideas and adapting to meet our needs as the job progressed. Gary and Julian were always here when they said they would be and worked extremely hard to complete the job within the timescale given. We would have no hesitation in recommending Gary and would certainly use him again in the future.
Gary was commissioned to render and plaster our new build eco house in Stonham. The wall construction is a modern version of the ancient techniques of mixed lime and binder and uses a method which, although well-known in continental Europe, is uncommon in the UK. ‘Hemcrete’, a mixture of hemp and lime, is applied to a timber frame on which shuttering of Celenit wood-wool board is fixed. The whole building is designed to breathe naturally by osmosis and consequently no impermeable materials, such as gypsum plaster, can be used in the construction or decoration. We opted to use the products Warmcote and Limecote from Best of Lime Ltd. We used nylon beading throughout to emphasise the geometry of the construction. Externally the render was applied directly to the set Hemcrete, while internally the plaster was applied to the exposed Celenit shuttering. Experience showed that, owing to the method by which the Celenit was pinned, the plaster needed to be applied thicker than is usually the case. Although Limecote and Warmcote have technological advances over common non-hydraulic limes, only the most skilled of tradesmen could have successfully plastered to this high standard.
Thanks for a truly outstanding job by you both. The previous render( sand and lime) was shoddy in my opinion but with your expertise you have totally transformed the house. Warmcote and Limecote( bestoflime) applied over Savolit board has eliminated draughts , insulated, reduced noise and looks stunning. Arriving on time, working hard, consulting whenever a change in plan was required, keeping us updated on progress, making everything tidy during and at the end of the day are the hallmarks of a quality and highly sought after tradesman. A large timber framed house in Lopham has been transformed- THANKS. Highly recommend to anyone who is prepared to wait for the best.
